SSK Co., Ltd. was founded in November 1946 (Showa 21), the year after the end of the war, in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, as a sporting goods store by the late founder, Kyozo Sasaki, who believed that “the development of youth through sports is important for Japan's recovery.” In October 1950, the official price and rationing system for cotton cloth was completely abolished. The company began sewing baseball uniforms and, inspired by professional baseball team uniforms, made numerous improvements and refinements, successfully developing baseball uniforms without gussets. In March 1956 (Showa 31), the brand “SSK Three-Dimensional Patterned Uniforms” was launched, marking the start of product development bearing the “SSK” mark. Today, the company handles a wide range of products, from manufacturing, wholesale, import, and export of sports goods for baseball, soccer, racket sports, and more, to outdoor equipment.
