After much trial and error, we present the project for these ‘Smart Liquid Crystal Photochromic Ski Goggles’. Winter mountain weather is unpredictable, and the snow surface reflects light, causing drastic changes in light levels depending on the weather and time of day. Traditionally, you must constantly swap goggle lenses to maintain visibility. Our goggles automatically and instantly adjust lens tint based on light levels, while also providing glare protection and UV blocking. We firmly believe this will be an item that allows our supporters to comfortably enjoy winter sports. Weather on snowy mountains can change dramatically within a single day. Even if you start skiing with goggles designed for strong glare and low visible light transmission, it often suddenly clouds over, becoming dark and difficult to see ahead. While some goggles feature photochromic lenses that adjust tint based on UV levels, those relying on chemical reactions in lens coatings may take considerable time to change color. Our goggles incorporate an intelligent light sensor that constantly measures light levels, sending signals to the liquid crystal film on the lens. This allows the lens to shift to the precise tint in just 0.1 seconds. They constantly adjust between 2.5% and 25% visible light transmittance. Even on days with intense glare from snow reflection, the built-in polarizing function ensures your vision remains consistently sharp and clear. Furthermore, they offer 99% UV protection. While winter UV levels are generally lower, snowy mountains are a different story. UV levels increase by 10-12% for every 1000m of elevation gain. Snow reflects sunlight like a mirror, bouncing back a staggering 80% of the UV rays hitting it. The 99% UV cut rate provides solid protection for your eyes. The frame incorporates a built-in solar cell. Like a solar watch, it constantly generates power from sunlight while in use, eliminating worries about dead batteries. It charges even on cloudy days. The LCD film operates solely on power generated by the solar cell, eliminating the need for charging or battery replacement. Skiing and snowboarding inevitably involve flying pebbles and twigs mixed with snow during descents. Acrylic lenses commonly used in goggles scratch easily. The outer lens of these goggles uses impact-resistant polycarbonate※. Polycarbonate is also used in bulletproof materials and won't shatter from a hammer strike.
