Hobby Japan - Challengers. - For 1-8 Players - Ages 8+ - Board Game
In “Challengers.”, players compete in a tournament called the Flag Battle.
The tournament consists of 7 preliminary rounds, followed by a final match between the top 2 players who gained the most fans, to determine the winner. Each round consists of a Deck Phase and a Match Phase. During the Deck Phase, players move to venues (play mats) according to the tournament schedule. There, they acquire new cards, discard unwanted cards, and strengthen their decks.
Once the deck is complete, the Match Phase begins, where players finally battle one opponent.
In a match, the card with the highest number currently in play holds the flag. The opponent reveals cards from their deck until they reveal one with a higher number.
If the revealed number is higher than the current flag holder's card, the flag changes hands, and the previous holder moves to the bench.
Many cards possess abilities triggered when played or when sent to the bench, adding depth through category synergies and other elements.
The match concludes when a player can no longer surpass the flag holder's number or when the bench fills completely, with the winner gaining fans.
After seven preliminary rounds, the top two players by fan count advance to the finals to determine the champion.
While the actual battle involves simply flipping cards, the fun lies in building your deck while considering card abilities, creating various card combos. The thrill of flipping cards from your deck is addictive in this card game for 1 to 8 players.
