Uchiki Lacquered Cup - Byakudan - Rock Cup - SCW-R501
The Shima Cup features a stainless steel body finished with Yanagawa-Sanjo polishing techniques, overlaid with lacquer applied using the traditional craft of Yamanaka lacquerware. ・Patterned with the sparkle of flowing water, this is the first release in the Shikuma brand and a long-beloved series.
The traditional technique of applying lacquer over patterns drawn with gold or silver foil and powder is called “Byakudan lacquer.” In Shikuma's Byakudan series, a unique “lacquer flow” technique is used to scatter gold powder, expressing a pattern like sparkling flowing water.
・The joy of nurturing it through use: Initially a deep amber color, the hue gradually lightens at varying speeds depending on your environment and frequency of use. Like denim, lacquerware made from natural materials offers the pleasure of nurturing it through daily use.
・Highlighting the best of lacquer and metal: The cup body uses 18-8 stainless steel, formed and polished in Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture.
The upper inner surface features a mirror finish, while the lower section has spiral polishing lines. This creates a vigorous, creamy foam when beer is poured.
