FineMold - Zero-Type Carrier-Based Fighter - Mitsubishi-Built, Mid-Production Model - Plastic Model - FZ01
FineMold 1/48 Imperial Japanese Navy Zero-Type Carrier-Based Fighter Model 52 (Mitsubishi-Built, Mid-Production Model) Plastic Model FZ01 The Zero fighter, the most mass-produced aircraft in Japanese aviation history and synonymous with the great warplanes, arrives in a completely new mold. The Zero was developed as a carrier-based fighter for the Imperial Japanese Navy. It demonstrated unparalleled strength from its appearance in the Sino-Japanese War through the early war years, achieving exploits that later became known as the ‘Zero Myth’. Following the initial mass-produced Model 11, successive improvements were made, with the Model 52 generally being the fifth type. Its defining feature is the rounded wingtips, resulting from shortening the main wings in the Model 32 to enhance speed. The Model 52, produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the developer, is further classified into early, mid, and late production variants. This model depicts the mid-production Mitsubishi variant, capturing its appearance immediately after the change to thrust-type single exhaust pipes, before heat shields were installed on the fuselage sections housing each exhaust. Departing from the orthodox practice in aircraft plastic models of dividing the fuselage into left and right halves for assembly, this kit adopts the actual aircraft's division into large front and rear fuselage sections. The rear fuselage is molded as a single piece using a slide mold. Furthermore, the canopy features separate parts for the glass section and window frames, incorporating rare part divisions and assembly methods. This development aims to create a new Zero fighter plastic model unique to the Reiwa era, amplifying the joy of building. ※This product is a plastic model kit requiring assembly and painting. ※Additional items such as adhesive, tools, and paint are required for assembly and painting. ※“Plastic Model” is a registered trademark owned by the Japan Plastic Model Manufacturers Association. ※This product does not include adhesives, paints, tools, batteries, etc.
