Product Introduction
Prior to 1978, in the Iranian Empire, the then-reigning Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (Pahlavi), sought military superiority in the Middle East region. Simultaneously, driven by vigilance toward neighboring Soviet Union, he used so-called “oil money” to purchase numerous land and air weapons from Western nations. Following the F-4D, the F-4E was acquired, and in 1974, a purchase contract for the F-14A was signed. Between 1976 and 1978, 79 F-14A aircraft were delivered to Iran. Following the Iranian Revolution in February 1979, which forced the Shah to abdicate and led to the establishment of the strongly anti-American Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States imposed an arms embargo. This halted all subsequent supplies, including replacement parts. Despite suffering from a reduced operational fleet, both aircraft types saw action in the Iran-Iraq War beginning in 1980.
The F-14A remains operational to this day.
The included decals recreate markings from the Imperial Iran era and the post-revolution Iran-Iraq War period.
