A newly sculpted Godzilla joins the lineup of the “ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS” series, delivering masterful sculpted works as plastic kits.\
The original sculpt is by Shinobu Matsumura, a leading figure in natural history/biological sculpting. \
While rooted in the promotional stills from the 1954 film ‘Godzilla’, it reconstructs and recreates the essence of Godzilla's 70-year history.\
It depicts, in three dimensions, not a suit or CG recreation, but the form of a primordial giant creature appearing in Tokyo. \
The base features the collapsed Nikkatsu Theater building and JR elevated tracks beneath its feet, while its pose of snatching a train in its jaws heightens the sense of realism.\
Matsumura's soul-infused sculptural work is condensed into a fixed-pose plastic kit across 8 runners. The organic yet complex body surface details are faithfully reproduced from the original prototype. \
Despite its complex segmentation, the structure—adopted from previous series releases—involves attaching body surface parts to a base body, ensuring sturdiness.\
This method achieves high precision in part fit, a key challenge, while minimizing visible seam lines.\
The assembly process itself is enjoyable, and the finished product stands as a display-worthy ornament even in its unpainted, straight-out-of-the-box state. Of course, if you choose to paint it, the combination of the colossal Godzilla and the collapsed structures will surely spark your painting imagination.\

While the body color of Godzilla (1954) differs from the black-based schemes of many later Godzillas, often depicted in brown or gray tones reminiscent of the movie poster, this version features a reddish-brown hue fitting for a burning city. \
The base area near Yurakucho Station still retains much of its original atmosphere today, except for the Nikkatsu Theater, so we painted it with that image in mind.\
