For over 42 years, SSK has partnered with the WBSC (World Baseball Softball Confederation) to contribute to baseball's development through umpire equipment. SSK supported the Atlanta, Sydney, Athens, and Beijing Games. Even after baseball/softball was removed as an official sport following London, SSK and the WBSC continued their collaboration on umpire equipment. We have now signed a contract extending our umpire apparel agreement through March 31, 2021. SSK will continue supporting people in connecting through baseball and living fulfilling lives. SSK Corporation was founded in November 1946 (Showa 21), the year after the war ended, in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, as a sporting goods store. This was based on the belief of its founder, the late Kyozo Sasaki, that “Japan's recovery requires nurturing youth through sports.”
In October 1950 (Showa 25), with the abolition of government-set prices and rationing for cotton fabric, SSK began sewing baseball uniforms. Drawing inspiration from professional baseball team uniforms, the company made numerous improvements and refinements, ultimately succeeding in developing seamless baseball uniforms. In March 1956 (Showa 31), the company launched the “SSK Three-Dimensional Patterned Uniform” brand, marking the start of product development bearing the “SSK” mark. Today, the company handles a wide range of products, from manufacturing, wholesale, import, and export of sports equipment for baseball, soccer, racket sports, and more, to outdoor gear.
