This is a side story to “Chūshingura,” the tale he loved most.
Featuring the Akō rōnin led by Ōishi Kuranosuke, along with Kira Kozukenosuke, Kobayashi Heihachirō, and Shimizu Ikugaku,
the protagonist is Tsuchiya Chikara, played by Hayashi Chōjirō (later renamed Hasegawa Kazuo), who is neither from the Asano nor Kira clans, nor the Uesugi.
This is the story of Tsuchiya Chikara aiding the Akō rōnin in avenging their lord, Asano Naganori. The residence of Tsuchiya Chikara, a direct vassal of the shogun, was next to the residence of Kira Kozukenosuke. During the attack, he is known for not helping Kira, but rather for lighting the residence to make it easier to see inside. Directed by Minoru Inuzuka, who was active as a screenwriter for period films, such as the “Zatoichi” series, in his later years.
