Synopsis
After serving a 14-year sentence, the man released into the outside world sought peace...
The acting boss (Hakuryu) of the Akita-kai, based in Kanto, was stabbed to death by members of the Kansai-based Sanyu-kai, who were aiming to expand into Kanto.
On the very same day, the Akita-kai's action squad leader, known as the “Swordmaster Hisashi” or Komoro (Kiyoshi Nakajo), the Akita-kai's action squad leader, also known as the “Human Slasher,” breathed the outside air for the first time in 14 years.
He learned the reason no one came to greet him
Though warmly welcomed by Akita-kai boss Murota Hideo, he advised Komoro—fresh out of prison—to lie low for a while.
Shinjo (Hagiwara Nagare), once one of the underbosses, had risen to become a direct subordinate, receiving the ceremonial cup,
and now had his own faction. Komoro felt the shift of the times in his bones.
Komoro returned to Kofu to see his common-law wife, who had gone back to her family home. Seeing her living happily with an honest man, he quietly withdrew.
Back in Tokyo again, Komoro reunited with his former brother-in-arms, Tadokoro (Satonpei). He also found solace in his interactions with Mano (Ken Kaneko), a small-time thug belonging to Shinjo's group, and Mano's girlfriend.
Then, at a club where he was consulting with Kusama (Masataka Naruse), Komoro witnesses Kusama's sudden death at the hands of a hitman. Komoro corners and kills the hitman, but...
