Product Description
This is the Drawings 1/48 scale American P-47B Thunderbolt plastic model kit.
The P-47 Thunderbolt is a single-engine piston fighter developed by Republic Aviation in the United States and operated by the U.S. Army Air Forces and other branches. Appearing in the latter stages of World War II, this aircraft served as a mainstay fighter for the U.S. military alongside the P-51 on the European front, with total production across the series reaching 15,660 units. First flown in 1941, the P-47B weighed approximately 4, and was powered by a P&W R-2800 Double Wasp air-cooled radial engine with 18 cylinders producing approximately 2,000 horsepower. Its fuselage, housing the engine duct and turbocharger, was robust and highly resistant to enemy fire. When deployed as an escort fighter for B-17s heading to bomb Germany, it was considered a formidable threat by German pilots. Additionally, its armament consisted of four Browning .50 caliber machine guns in each wing, totaling eight guns, boasting astonishing firepower for the era. Completely new tooling. The kit includes paint mask stickers, photo-etched parts, and four types of decals (US Army x 3, Brazilian x 1). Completed length is approximately 224mm, wingspan approximately 258mm.
