TACOM “1/72 German Navy Battleship Scharnhorst B Turret 28CM SK C/34” Plastic Model Kit.
Scharnhorst was the lead ship of the German Navy's Scharnhorst-class battleships, commissioned in January 1939. She carried three triple-gun turrets mounting the “1934 Model 28cm (54.5 caliber) guns,” totaling nine main guns.
The German Navy designated main turrets using phonetic codes for radio communication, starting from the bow: A Turret (Anton), B Turret (Bruno), C Turret (Cäsar), and D Turret (Dora). The 1934 Model 28cm (54.5 caliber) gun could fire a 315kg heavy armor-piercing shell to a maximum range of 40,000 meters at an elevation of 40 degrees. Against the British Royal Navy's Renown-class battlecruisers, it could penetrate their side armor at a range of 20,000 m. Against the Queen Elizabeth-class battleships and the Revenge-class battleships, it could penetrate their side armor if the enemy closed to within 15,000 m.
Includes a metal barrel, two types of markings, and a base (cylindrical pedestal). Barrel tip to base rear: Approx. 30.3cm
