A slightly different adventure for Mario and friends. Originally released 27 years ago on the Super Famicom, Super Mario RPG returns to Nintendo Switch with all-new graphics.
■Story
■Mario heads to Bowser's Castle to rescue the kidnapped Princess Peach. Just as he defeats Bowser and thinks he can relax, a giant sword suddenly falls from the sky. The sword pierces Bowser's Castle, and Mario, blown away by the impact, sets out once more to find Peach. Along the way, Mario learns that the sword piercing Bowser's Castle destroyed the “Star Road,” which granted people's wishes, scattering its fragments, the “Star Pieces,” across the world. Together with the reliable allies he meets on his journey, Mario embarks on an adventure to collect the Star Pieces and restore a peaceful world where wishes come true.
■Jump Your Way Through the Fields
■Utilize Mario's signature “jump” action to solve puzzles and explore diverse fields and dungeons.
■Companions on Mario's Adventure
■Join forces with “Maro,” a self-proclaimed frog with a fluffy body; “Gino,” a celestial messenger who came to Mario World to recover the Star Pieces; and the familiar Mario series characters Bowser and Princess Peach as they adventure alongside you.
■Action Command Battles
■Engage in “Action Command Battles” where you time your actions for attacks and defenses. During monster fights, landing an Action Command can deal damage to all monsters or nullify incoming damage. New this time: Successfully chaining multiple Action Commands creates a “Chain,” boosting your allies' abilities for an advantage in battle. For beginners, a support feature shows a “.” mark at the perfect timing. Additionally, each successful Action Command fills a gauge. When this gauge reaches 100%, the three characters in battle can combine their power to unleash a special “3-Person Move”.
■Additional Features
■After the ending, you can rematch some of the bosses encountered during your adventure. These rematch bosses have all powered up significantly and won't go down easily. Other additions include the “Monster List,” which records various information as you battle monsters, and the “Sound Player,” allowing you to freely listen to BGM from both the Super Famicom and Nintendo Switch versions anytime. (The Sound Player becomes available after the ending.) With the addition of the “Enjoy” difficulty setting for easier battles and adventure support features, even those new to battles or RPGs can enjoy the game.
