Hard Tennis String
A new type of string that combines the durability of poly with the hold of nylon—neither purely poly nor nylon.
Successfully commercialized using CX, a super aramid fiber with excellent heat resistance.
CX stands for Caloric Xtra, meaning super heat-resistant.
While standard nylon or polyester strings melt at 210-250°C, CX fiber can withstand temperatures up to 430°C.
By wrapping four strands of this CX fiber around a monofilament core, it creates a super durable island-type structure resistant to friction heat from ball contact.
AK PRO CX16 (1.30 mm) is the flagship model of the island series utilizing the new CX material.
Wrapping four CX fibers around the island core significantly increases heat resistance, creating an ultra-durable island-core string that never succumbs to friction heat from the ball.
In our R&D center's hitting test, where a 100 km/h tennis ball was struck against a 60-pound strung racket face to measure breakage points, it withstood an astonishing 1,900 hits. This represents a 58% increase in durability compared to the existing AK PRO 16, which lasted 1,200 hits. While the feel is generally perceived as firm, super hard hitters experience a momentary sensation of the ball sitting on the string (a soft, holding feel), and it also facilitates easy spin generation. Its durability stands head and shoulders above other new products.
