KATO N Gauge 381 Series 3-Car Extension Set 10-2038
This set reproduces a formation belonging to the Shinryo Electric Train Depot from around 1993, when bogies and underframe equipment were painted gray, the side JR markings were reduced in size, and the front-end pass-through hood became permanently installed. Kuro 381-0 faithfully recreates the side door shifted toward the driver's cab characteristic of intermediate conversion cars, the single front pass-through door, and the distinctive front pass-through hood.
The basic set's Kuha 381-12 reproduces an early car with a single front window wiper.
The intermediate coupling uses a body-mounted close-coupling type without hooks. The leading end features a dummy coupler, with a coupling and skirt included.
The washroom skylight window is reproduced in white only for Kuha 381; others are transparent.
H-rubber color: All side door windows black; front nameplate and side destination signs gray.
Equipped with KATO's unique body sway mechanism, reproducing the inward body tilt during curve passage like the real vehicle.
Headlights/tail lights illuminated / Nameplate illuminated (using white LEDs). Each leading car includes an illumination switch. The nameplate uses a convertible train mark system. Includes: “Shinano (illustration)”, “Shupuru Tsugaike/Happo”, ‘Inaro’, and “Temporary”. The basic set's book case can accommodate cars from the expansion set. The full 9-car formation fits into one case. *Model trains are powered by the track system. No batteries are used for running, illumination, or lighting functions.
