Tamiya Waterline Series No. 408 Plastic Model Kit 31408
This plastic model assembly kit depicts the destroyer Shikinami, which participated in the Guadalcanal reinforcement operation ten times, as well as other engagements including the Battle of the Java Sea, the Midway operation, and the Third Battle of the Solomon Islands. It fought fiercely across the Pacific until its sinking by torpedoes from a U.S. submarine in September 1944.
This kit recreates the Shikinami, the second ship of the Type II Special Type Destroyer class known as the “revolutionary destroyer,” in its post-anti-aircraft armament reinforcement configuration.
Details like the funnels, searchlights, and antennas are sharply rendered.
Using parts from the sister ship Ayanami, you can also enjoy converting it to its Showa 4 (1929) launch configuration. Completed length: 157mm.
