1/72 scale plastic model kit.
The F-4U-1D Corsair was a fighter aircraft used by the US Navy and Marine Corps during World War II.
The Corsair's engine was equipped with an air-cooled engine (a system that uses air to cool the engine), considered the highest standard at the time.
This engine delivered tremendous power, necessitating a large propeller diameter of 3.82 meters to fully utilize its output.
Consequently, a conventional wing design would have caused the propeller to strike the ground, leading to the development of the distinctive inverted gull-wing configuration (resembling a seagull's wing inverted).
