The Sikorsky SH-60J Sea Hawk is the next-generation anti-submarine helicopter adopted by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force as the successor to the currently deployed HSS-2 Sea King.
The SH-60J is based on the SH-60B multi-purpose helicopter used by the U.S. Navy.
Anti-submarine warfare equipment has been developed domestically and installed to suit Japan's anti-submarine warfare requirements.
Compared to the HSS-2, it is slightly smaller, and the crew has been streamlined from four to three.
