1/72 scale plastic model.
The Bell AH-1S Cobra is an attack helicopter designed for ground troop support.
The Cobra series was developed from the UH-1 Iroquois during the Vietnam War.
The main improvements over the Iroquois are concentrated in the forward fuselage. The forward fuselage area was reduced to approximately one-third that of the Iroquois. The pilot and gunner are seated in a tandem (vertical) configuration. Stabilizer wings were added to both sides of the fuselage to enhance stability during high-speed flight and to serve as a platform for mounting missiles, rockets, and other weapons. The main rotor uses a door-hinge design, contributing to increased aircraft speed and improved maneuverability. The basic armament is the Emerson TAT102 turret, which can be equipped with either a 7.62mm machine gun or a 20mm cannon. The nose turret, linked to the gunner's helmet display, enables high-precision firing. Furthermore, since it flies at relatively low speeds during low-altitude attack missions, making it vulnerable to enemy fire, the cockpit is equipped with ballistic protection.
The Cobra series is primarily used by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, with different types and configurations for each branch.

This variant features a Lycoming T53-L-703 turboshaft engine upgrade. The increased engine power necessitated reinforced power transmission systems.
