Product Introduction
1/24 scale plastic model.
In 1959, Germany's NSU and Wankel companies successfully developed the rotary engine. This engine had been independently developed and conceived by engineer Dr. Felix Wankel since before the war.
Noticing this, Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. (now Mazda Motor Corporation) negotiated extensively with NSU and signed a technical partnership agreement in 1961.
After overcoming various challenges to achieve practical application, the completed engine was filled with ideas and technologies not even found in the original NSU design.
Designed with a low, flowing body evoking images of the future and space, befitting this engine, it debuted in May 1967 as the Cosmo Sport (export model: 110S).
The L10A model, featuring the world's first two-rotor engine, saw 343 units produced.
Then, in July 1968, a minor change focused on power enhancement was implemented, resulting in the L10B. By September 1972, 1,176 units had been produced.
