Description
700-Grade Up Parts Series-No-139-Imperial Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier-Genuine Photo-Etched Parts
Etching parts for the distinctive “Amagi, second ship of the Unryu class,” which simplified construction among wartime mass-produced medium carriers, are now available. Compatible with the currently available 1/700 scale kit. Amagi was built as the second ship of the Unryu class at the private Nagasaki Shipyard and completed in August 1944.
Basic plan number G16, (urgent) plans began with the Unryu, followed by 15 ships planned including this one to compensate for carrier losses after the Battle of Midway.
To shorten construction time, it proceeded as a modified design of the carrier Hiryu. The later ships, Amagi and Katsuragi, featured increasingly simplified shapes.
Upon completion, the Amagi already lacked sufficient carrier aircraft. It remained on standby in inland waters and was camouflaged and moored alongside its sister ship, the Katsuragi, near the Mitsukojima Islands south of Kure Naval Port.
It was hit during the July 1945 air raid on Kure, capsized, and grounded. It saw no further combat action and remained in that state until the war's end. After the war, it was raised and scrapped, with dismantling completed in November 1947.
□ This product corresponds to the 1/700 Special Series No. 17 Imperial Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Amagi. □ Parts are etched and consist of two large sheets. □ The included parts primarily serve two purposes: adding details that cannot be reproduced with molded parts, and providing replacement parts requiring partial cutting. □ Etched parts capture the intricate ship fittings that injection-molded parts cannot fully represent. □Etching parts include handrails, ladders, Type 13 and Type 21 radar, arresting wires, elevators, aircraft propellers, etc.
※As these are metal parts, painting is required. Use instant adhesive or rubber-based adhesive depending on the bonding location.
※This product is not included in the kit.
※This product consists solely of etching parts.
The plastic model kit itself is not included.
