Based on the 1939 Fleet Plan, construction commenced in fiscal year 1916 and was completed at the Kure Naval Arsenal in 1920. \
Designed and built independently by the Imperial Japanese Navy based on accumulated technology, she pioneered the world's first 41cm main guns and was the strongest battleship, emphasizing both horizontal and underwater defense. \
In 1934, she underwent modifications to various systems, becoming a battleship capable of competing with the great powers, with a standard displacement of 39,130 tons and a length of 224.9 meters. She served as the flagship of the Combined Fleet and was beloved by the people as a symbol of the Imperial Japanese Navy. \
During the Pacific War, she participated in Operation MI (Battle of Midway), Operation A (Battle of the Philippine Sea), and Operation Shō-1 (Battle of Leyte Gulf). Though she survived these engagements, she was subsequently moored at Yokosuka as a floating battery in preparation for the homeland defense.\
Having endured the fierce war, she was later used as a target for U.S. atomic bomb tests and sank quietly in 1946. \
