Description
Fujimi Models - Special Series No. 023 - Imperial Japanese Navy Battleship Musashi (Showa 17 - At Completion) New Special - 023
Product Introduction
Product Introduction Product Introduction The battleship Musashi, alongside the Yamato, was a symbol of the Combined Fleet. Re-released with added precision-molded 25mm triple-mounted machine gun parts and specification changes. This product is an unpainted kit requiring glue assembly and painting. Scale is 1/700, an open-water model without the hull bottom. This product uses the molds from the previous (Special Series). Battleship Musashi was the second ship of the “Yamato-class,” the last ship type designed and built by the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was completed at the Kure Naval Arsenal in August 1942, the year after the war began. It was an unprecedented warship, armed with nine 46-cm guns—the largest in the world—and boasting a displacement of 64,000 tons. Commissioned into the Combined Fleet on the same day of its completion. As aircraft increasingly became the mainstay of warfare, the Musashi underwent modifications to enhance its anti-aircraft armament, participating in the Battle of the Philippine Sea and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. In October 1944, after American forces landed in the Philippines, Musashi participated in Operation Shō-1 (the Battle of Leyte Gulf) as part of the Combined Fleet's full force, including Yamato and Nagato. However, she was sunk in the Sibuyan Sea by air attacks.
▪️ This product models the ship's appearance around October 1944, after completion in August 1944 and the finishing of remaining work. ・Equipped with four secondary guns on both sides, prior to the reinforcement of anti-aircraft guns. ・Features the Type 21 radar mounted on the 15-meter rangefinder above the bridge, as equipped immediately after completion.
▪️Hull structure integrates port and starboard sides with the upper wooden deck. ・Numerous unblocked portholes, characteristic of the early war period, are represented with raised molding. ・Wooden deck surfaces are represented with raised moldings. ・All parts, including the hull and bottom plates, are molded in gray. ・The bridge and funnels are constructed as left-right split molds.
▪️Equipped primarily with armament intended for fleet combat at the time of completion. ・Main guns feature integrated gun barrels and shields, with elevation angles fixed at the locked position. ・Four secondary guns are mounted, with turrets and barrels as a single molded part. ・The 25mm triple machine guns (without shields) include both the original molded parts and the more detailed 2018 molded parts, allowing for selection. ・The barrel elevation angle for the shielded 25mm triple machine guns can be selected from two options: high elevation or locked position. ・Two types of carrier-based seaplanes are included: the Zero Observation Plane and the Zero (Three-Seat) Seaplane Reconnaissance Plane, with two of each type. ・The carrier-based aircraft are molded in gray.
