Fujimi Models - Special Series No. 024 - Imperial Japanese Navy Battleship Musashi (1944 - Operation Shō-1) Special-024

Product Introduction
The battleship Musashi, alongside the Yamato, was a symbol of the Combined Fleet. It returns with added precision-molded 25mm triple-mount machine gun parts and specification changes.
This product is an unpainted kit requiring glue assembly and painting.
Scale is 1/700, and it is a surface model without the hull bottom.
This product uses the molds from the previous (Special Series).
The battleship Musashi was the second ship of the Yamato-class, the final battleship type designed and built by the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was completed at the Kure Naval Arsenal in August 1942, the year after the war began.
Equipped with nine 46-cm guns, the largest in the world, and a displacement of 64,000 tons, she was an unprecedented warship.
She was incorporated into the Combined Fleet on the day of her completion. As aircraft increasingly became the dominant weapon, Musashi underwent modifications to enhance its anti-aircraft armament. It saw action in the Battle of the Philippine Sea and the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
In October 1944, after the US landing in the Philippines, Musashi participated in Operation Shō-1 (the Battle of Leyte Gulf) as part of the Combined Fleet's full force, including Yamato and Nagato. However, it was sunk in the Sibuyan Sea by air attacks.
▪️ This product models the ship's appearance during Operation Shō-1 (Battle of Leyte Gulf) in October 1944. ・ Depicts the configuration after removing two secondary guns to add reinforced high-angle gun compartments, but with machine guns installed instead due to a shortage of guns. ・ Features the final configuration for Musashi, equipped with Type 13 radar on the rear mast.
▪️Hull features an integrated structure combining port/starboard sides and upper wooden deck sections
・Portholes, characteristic of the late war period, are depicted as closed with raised molding.
・Wooden deck is represented with raised molding.
・Parts, including hull and keel plate, are molded in gray.
・Bridge and funnels are constructed as left/right halves joined together.
▪️Features the installation of high-angle gun mounts, which were not completed in time unlike the Yamato.
・The main guns feature integrated gun barrels and canvases, with elevation angles fixed at the locked position.
・The secondary guns are reduced to two mounts, represented by integrated turret and barrel parts. ・The 25mm triple machine guns (without shields) include both the original molded parts and the more detailed 2018 molded parts, allowing for selection.
・The barrel elevation of the shielded 25mm triple machine gun can be selected from two options: high elevation or locked position.
・Two types of carrier-based seaplanes are included: the Zero Observation Seaplane and the Zero (Three-Seat) Seaplane Reconnaissance, with two of each type.
・The carrier aircraft are molded in gray.
▪️ Three types of decals included: ・Decals featuring the Imperial Japanese Navy ensign, Rising Sun flag, and carrier aircraft markings. ・Three sizes of the ensign are provided: 1/700 scale representations of the actual 10-span, 6-span, and 3-span dimensions. ・Includes Rising Sun markings for carrier aircraft and friendly identification bands (yellow stripes). The Rising Sun decals also include versions without the white border used in the later war period.
・Decals featuring draft markings, the chrysanthemum crest on the bow, and ship name markings on the stern (two types: gold and painted over in warship gray).
・Decals included to easily represent the walkways on the rear flight deck.
Total assembly parts: 249
・Runners x31
・Assembly instructions x1
・Decals x3
