Product Introduction n\ nThe Battleship Yamato, the symbol of the Allied Fleet, is re-released with additional armament and outfitting parts and specification changes.
The product is an unpainted kit that requires adhesive assembly and painting. \The scale is 1/700 and is an offshore model not including the bottom of the ship. \The product consists of the conventional (Special Series) molds and newly designed additional parts. \The battleship Yamato was the first ship of the Yamato class, the last ship type designed and built by the Imperial Japanese Navy, and was completed at the Kure Naval Arsenal in December 1941, just after the war began. \It was an unprecedented ship with nine 46cm guns, the largest main guns in the world, and a drainage capacity of 64,000 tons. \After completion, the ship was immediately incorporated into the Allied Fleet, and as aircraft were becoming the mainstay of war, the Yamato underwent a refit to strengthen her anti-aircraft armament. \In April 1945, the U.S. forces landed on Okinawa and the Yamato, together with escorting light cruisers and destroyers, was launched as part of a waterborne suicide attack force, but the advance was blocked by U.S. air forces and the ship sank off Bonomisaki, Kyushu. \The product is based on the appearance of the first battleship of the Yamato class "Yamato" at the time of Operation Shoichi (Battle of Leyte) in October 1944.
The secondary guns on both port and starboard sides have been removed and the 12.7cm twin high-angle guns have been augmented, and the ship is now equipped with an electric search system.
