Product Introduction
The Kan NEXT Series Aircraft Carrier Shinano arrives with included etching parts.
Shinano was the third ship of the Yamato-class battleships under construction when its plans were changed to an aircraft carrier. She was completed in November 1944 and sunk by submarine torpedoes that same month.
The product features a snap-fit design requiring no glue.
Major components are represented by color-separated plastic parts, while certain tonal areas are reproduced using Real Seals with excellent surface-following properties.
The flight deck is a two-piece construction, divided into the concrete-paved deck section and the outer edge section, providing a convenient form for painting. The flight deck color is a slightly bluish dark gray. The hull bottom parts reproduce the distinct bulge shape differing from the Yamato. Two rudder types are included: the traditional angular rudder shape used on the Yamato, and the angular type equipped on ships like the Taiho, accommodating new theories on rudder design.
Included aircraft are the “Sakura” (Oka), said to have been carried at the time; the “Shiden-Kai” (Purple Lightning-Kai) which performed test landings; and the “Ryusei-Kai” (Meteor-Kai) and “Saiun” (Rainbow Cloud), which were planned for carriage.
The included decals cover the anti-submarine camouflage sections on both sides and the white lines on the flight deck, allowing for color representation without requiring main painting.
For painters, white line decals for the flight deck are also included. The folding antenna mast features a movable structure. “Binoculars” and “Machine Gun Ammunition Boxes” are included. Includes etching parts that allow detailed representation down to the finest details, difficult to achieve with injection-molded parts. Etching parts include handrails, ladders, ratchets, Type 13 radar, windshields, elevators, cranes, funnel caps, and aircraft propellers.
