Description
Wave Series - Snap Specification - No. 2 - Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier - Introducing the Wave Series, which includes a sea surface stage that allows you to easily and realistically recreate the ship's voyage once the plastic model is completed.
No painting required: Each part is pre-colored with its own molded color, and some parts can be combined with stickers to create the desired color.
No gluing required: The parts snap together for easy assembly.
The aircraft carrier Shinano was originally laid down at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in 1939 as the third ship of the Yamato-class battleships.
After the loss of the main aircraft carrier in the Battle of Midway in 1942, plans for the Shinano, which was under construction, were changed to an aircraft carrier.
Following the defeat in the Battle of the Philippine Sea in 1944, Yokosuka was placed within range of air raids, so construction was rushed for shipping to Kure, and the ship was completed as an aircraft carrier in November. That same month, during her maiden voyage to Kure, she was torpedoed by a US submarine 100 kilometers off the coast of Shionomisaki, sinking in just 10 days. It was the largest aircraft carrier in the Japanese Navy's history. (Structure & Specifications) ・Made of pre-colored parts, you can recreate the desired color scheme without painting. ・Snap-fit assembly allows for easy assembly without adhesives. ・Reproduces the ship's appearance sailing on the ocean. ・Includes a sea surface base for easily displaying the ship in a more realistic manner. (Product Features) ・▪️This product is based on the ship's shape upon completion in November 1944, with the remaining construction completed. ・While the actual ship is a sister ship to the Yamato and Musashi, this model uses unique parts rather than shared parts to recreate the differences. ・The display sea surface base recreates the ship's bow, sides, and wake waves generated by the propellers in three dimensions.
Hull
- The hull is divided into left and right sections, and the layout around the bow bellmouth is accurately reproduced.
- The molding color is a shade of light and dark green that mimics anti-submarine camouflage.
- Some areas, such as the canvas openings on the side of the ship, are rendered using a highly conforming sealant.
- The portholes lined up on the side of the ship are delicately sculpted to recreate the differences in blocked and unblocked shapes.
Flight Deck
- The flight deck is constructed in two pieces. The concrete deck and the outer edge are separated into parts, optimizing the shape for painting.
- The cement-covered area is molded in a light gray that is lighter than the warship color.
Armament
- The main guns can be elevated and rotated. Achieves both a minimal number of parts and realistic modeling.
- The orientation of the 46cm main gun barrels is kept open using a slide mold.
- Dedicated parts are provided for both the main gun canopy and the machine gun turret to recreate the additional machine gun turrets on the No. 2 and No. 3 main gun canopies.
- The secondary guns are rotatable, and the barrels and turrets are integrated into one piece.
Bridge
- The bridge is made using a split/slide mold to minimize joints between parts, and the parts are integrated into one piece.
- The funnel shape and the structure near the aft boat deck have been recreated in three dimensions based on recent documents and historical research.
Funnel/Mast/Fittings
- The funnel is made up of three parts, and the steam exhaust pipe is integrated with the support structure for a realistic design.
- The cap (lattice) on the top of the funnel is removed for a very realistic design with a sense of depth.
- The bridge is made into one piece using a slide mold. All four sides are meticulously sculpted for a realistic design.
--The anti-aircraft gun mount features a striped pattern, and the hangar walls feature monkey ladders, achieving a high level of detail with detailed engraving.
--Bonus parts include adhesive "horizontal binoculars" and "machine gun ammunition boxes," perfect for a detailed finish.
Carrier-based aircraft
--Four types of carrier-based aircraft are included: "Shiden Kai," "Ryusei," "Saiun," and "Ohka."
--The Shiden Kai comes in two colors: the standard dark green and a yellow-orange version that mimics the prototype Shiden Kai-2.
--The Ryusei, Saiun, and Shiden Kai have one-piece molded legs, and separate, more intricately sculpted legs are also included.
Included stickers
--Pre-cut stickers with excellent adhesion are included, making it easy to paint the fine details.
--The included stickers come in a special color scheme to match the cement-paved flight deck. The included stickers include canvas on the ship's sides, linoleum on the bridge floor, and white lines on the flight deck, allowing you to express color without painting. Separate decals are included for painting purposes, including white lines on the flight deck and the Japanese flag for the aircraft. This product is made in Japan. This is a plastic model kit that requires assembly. Brand: Fujimi Model (FUJIMI). Includes display base, pre-colored parts, stickers, and snap-fit parts. Material: Plastic. 1/700 scale plastic model kit.
