Developed to counter the US Ohio-class submarines, this is Russia's largest nuclear-powered submarine in the world.
Its entire hull features a double-hull structure, giving it a distinctive appearance.
Six vessels of this class entered service by 1989, but due to financial difficulties, three were decommissioned, leaving only three in service today.
