Product Description
Jōgi Nyorai Western Temple, located in Aoba Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.
Its origins trace back to Taira no Sadayoshi, who served Taira no Kiyomori and Shigemori. After the Taira clan's downfall, he hid in this area and enshrined a statue of Amida Nyorai to pray for peace.
After approximately 800 years, this faith continues to this day, and the temple is affectionately called “Jōgi-san.”
Many worshippers visit, and the five-story pagoda, a long-cherished wish of successive head priests, was constructed in 1986.
The faith of the people and the aspirations of successive head priests have flowed steadily through the ages, forming the present-day Saikōji Temple.
