Hobby Japan - Moorland - 45-60 min - Ages 10+ - Board Game
Moorland is a nature-themed board game where players use cards to build waterways in a wetland, enjoying the construction and interplay of diverse ecosystems through card placement and set collection.
In Moorland, players use wetland cards and plant cards to create a wetland teeming with rich ecosystems. The game spans 12 rounds, each consisting of three phases: the Reveal Phase, the Action Phase, and the Cleanup Phase. During the Reveal Phase, the marshland cards and plants available for acquisition that round are revealed.
During the Action Phase, players sequentially perform three actions.
First, they acquire a Wetland card depicting flora, fauna, or waterways to form their wetland. Next, they place plant markers on their wetland. Finally, they may play a wetland card onto their wetland, provided the plants depicted on the card match the plant markers already placed there. Placing wetland cards allows plants to take root or wither, while waterways drift downstream, becoming the foundation for the next wetland card and shaping a rich wetland ecosystem.
During the “Cleanup Phase,” discard any wetland cards not taken by players and proceed to the next round.
After 12 rounds, the player with the highest total score across seven categories, including biodiversity, wins.
