Pit Road 1/700 Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Escort Ship FFM-5 Yahagi Plastic Model J110
\ The FFM-5 Mogami-class multi-functional mine warfare frigate, designated n30FFM, is the latest escort vessel specialized for sweeping advanced mines. It carries anti-mine sonar, autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) mine detectors, and unmanned surface vehicles (USV) for mine clearance.
Enhanced stealth capabilities are prioritized, with most fittings installed inside the sloped hull sides. Its distinctive appearance—featuring a unicorn-shaped composite antenna and a pyramidal mast housing multifunction radars on four sides—sets it apart from previous escort vessels.
The fifth ship, “Yahagi,” entered service in May 2024, followed by the sixth ship, “Agano,” in June. Both are assigned to the 14th Escort Squadron at Maizuru Base.
The seventh ship, “Yodome,” is scheduled to enter service in December 2024, with the eighth ship, “Yūbetsu,” following in March of the following year.
