SSK Co., Ltd. was founded in November 1946 (Showa 21), the year after the end of World War II, in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, as a sporting goods store by the late founder, Kyozo Sasaki, who believed that “the development of young people through sports is important for Japan's recovery.” In October 1950, the official price and distribution system for cotton cloth was completely abolished. The company began sewing baseball uniforms and, inspired by professional baseball team uniforms, made numerous improvements and refinements, successfully developing baseball uniforms without gussets.
