Flyhawk Model 1/700 Royal Navy Battlecruiser Invincible 1914 Deluxe Edition Plastic Model Kit FLYFH1311S\\ n\
The battlecruiser HMS Invincible was planned based on the concept “speed is the best defense,” advocated by Admiral Fisher, First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy.\
This ship was the first battlecruiser built to combine the firepower of a battleship with the mobility of a cruiser. \
Its hull featured a long forecastle design. The bow deck housed a twin mount of the newly designed “Mark X 30.5cm (45-caliber) guns”. The main battery comprised four mounts (eight guns total): the second and third main guns were staggered on the port and starboard sides, respectively, with the fourth mount positioned on the aft deck. The staggered placement of the second and third main guns on each side enabled simultaneous broadside fire from all main guns. Emphasizing speed, a core concept of battlecruisers, compromised defensive capabilities, proving disadvantageous against cruisers of comparable class during the Battle of Jutland. \
The Invincible participated in the Battle of Jutland during World War I as the flagship of the 3rd Battlecruiser Squadron. \
During the battle, she engaged the German battleships “Derfflinger” and “Lützow.” A 30.5cm shell struck her starboard main turret, penetrated it, and caused an ammunition magazine explosion, resulting in her sinking. \
