Hobby Japan - Tree Society - For 2-4 Players - Ages 8 and Up - Board Game
Tree Society is a new economic and development game where you trade fruit to grow your treetop city. Each turn, players sell one fruit card from their display to earn coins, which they can use to build guilds. The price of fruit to sell fluctuates based on the market and other players' displays, so you must sell fruit wisely by reading the market trends. Guilds have three levels. Players start building from the first level, progressing to the next level, and upon completing the third level, the guild is “finished.” If a guild has level-based effects, players can use those effects when building it, or the effects become permanent while the guild is at that level. However, you can only have up to three guilds under construction at once. The game ends when any player completes the predetermined number of buildings. Ultimately, victory is determined by points based on the level of each completed building (with completed buildings scoring the highest points, of course). Therefore, you must consider points and effects when deciding what to build and in what order. Furthermore, since players select four guilds from six available sets, the combinations lead to diverse gameplay.
