A guidebook has arrived that lets you build your own AI robot that comes over when you smile and responds when you say “Hello”.
Elementary school students can easily build this robot and start creating AI robots effortlessly using a visual programming environment based on Scratch 3.0, modified for beginner-friendly use. Using the robot construction kit “Fun Creature Robot Kit” (adopted by the “Elementary School Robot Contest” hosted by the Elementary School Robot Contest Executive Committee (NHK Enterprises, Science Museum)), along with the “Cocoro Kit” and “Cocoro Kit+” modules that enable programming and wireless control, you can create robots that respond to your expressions and calls using AI-powered programs.
This book features two types of robots. Both are easy to build by adding everyday materials to the kit components. You can also apply paper craft techniques to create your own original robot.
Approximately 10 types of AI programs are introduced to animate these robots. These programs make the robot react to expressions and gestures (via camera image recognition), calls, or music (via voice recognition). The content ranges from simple programs to slightly more complex ones, like combining expressions with calls, allowing you to learn programming at various skill levels.
