In the game, you control your car using cards. Each round, players shift gears, thereby determining how many cards they play that round. The race car's speed is the sum of these card values, determining how many spaces it advances on the track. Players use this speed to maneuver and battle for position. As a racing game, speed is exhilarating, so you'll likely want to play high-value cards early and often. However, racing also demands skill.
If you don't pay attention to the expected speed in corners, your race car will overheat, and sometimes you risk spinning out.
Furthermore, in the advanced mode, weather conditions change the road surface, adding depth to the race.
