We want to support the feet of more nurses. ASICS nursing shoes offer high cost performance. Responding to strong demand from nursing settings, we propose a belt-type design that's easy to slip on and off and also suitable for male nurses. In the early 2nd century AD, the Roman satirist Juvenal famously wrote: “If you pray to the gods, pray for a sound mind in a sound body.” In the original text, “mind” is expressed as “Mens,” but we replaced it with “Anima,” which carries the more dynamic meaning of “a vibrant spirit.” Thus, we adopted “Anima Sana in Corporis Sano” as our guiding principle. Taking the initial letters of this phrase, we formed our company name. We established a Sports Engineering Laboratory domestically and create products that compete globally. Our company was founded in 1949 (Showa 24) as Onitsuka Co., Ltd., later changed its name to Onitsuka Corporation, In 1977 (Showa 52), the company name was changed to ASICS Corporation. It merged with sportswear and equipment manufacturer GTIO Corporation and sportswear manufacturer Jelenk Corporation, rapidly becoming a comprehensive sports goods manufacturer.
