Each “Porepore Animal” is meticulously hand-carved from smooth, white solid wood. To achieve a simple, unvarnished finish without using lacquer, the wood is carefully sanded by hand multiple times. This results in a beautiful piece that retains the natural feel of the material. The “Polepole Dinosaurs” series charms with its laid-back vibe. Imagine displaying them while picturing ancient Earth. Why not let your whole family imagine ancient Earth together? “Polepole” means “slowly” in Swahili. The soft touch and gentle expressions of Polepole animals bring moments of calm and healing into your daily life. Finished without varnish for a rich, natural feel. Tealab's wooden carvings are entirely handmade by numerous artisans in our dedicated workshop on Bali, Indonesia. First, square wood blocks are roughly cut to shape using flat templates, then dried over time. After that, the shapes are finished solely by sanding. Achieving identical shapes requires considerable skill. Once shaped, each piece is hand-painted and finished individually. The wood used is a southern species of white wood, scientifically named Albizia falcata. In Japan, it is also known as “Nanyo-kiri” (South Sea Paulownia). This tree grows extremely fast. Not only does it not cause deforestation through logging, but it also enriches poor soil, leading to widespread planting across tropical regions. Since only solid natural wood is used, each piece features the unique ‘grain’ and “wood patterns” characteristic of natural wood. Please appreciate these as the natural expression of the wood. As each piece is entirely handmade, from carving to finishing, subtle variations exist between individual items. Since we use untreated solid wood, please avoid placing it in extremely dry locations, humid areas, or places exposed to prolonged direct sunlight. This is not a children's toy; please handle with care. Finishing uses indoor water-based paint (compliant with the heavy metal safety standards of the Toy Safety “ST” standard).
