The Group SNE Game Contest 2019 winner, which sold out immediately after release, returns as a second edition. Players become monks challenging the most grueling ascetic practice known as mummy monkhood, aiming to earn Bodhisattva points and become better mummies. By progressing through phases mirroring actual ascetic practices—“Gathering Grains Phase,” “Abstaining from Grains Phase,” and “Buried in Earth Phase”—monks draw closer to becoming mummies. While the actions taken on each turn remain largely consistent throughout the game, the differing objectives per phase create a novel card game experience where the feel shifts dramatically mid-game. The increasingly agonizing choices demanded as the game progresses embody the ultimate ascetic practice of becoming a Shingon Buddha itself.
