SP31 Special Stainless Steel Inner Cable Feature 1: Flexibility (Supple) While standard inner cables are constructed by twisting 19 strands together, this product is made from 31 strands. This provides greater suppleness and flexibility than conventional products. Installation is easier in tight handlebar routing situations like those found today. Handlebar operation also becomes lighter. Feature 2: Durability (Longer Life) The strands are twisted at a higher density than conventional products, reducing gaps between them. This minimizes the inner cable's elongation rate. It also offers superior load-bearing capacity. (The inner cable's breaking strength itself is also increased by approximately 10%.) This reduces the need for readjustment after installation. It is pre-stretched (a process that eliminates gaps between strands to suppress initial elongation and minimize elongation after installation). Feature 3: Low Friction (Light Pull) The cable surface undergoes a slick finish to achieve near-perfect roundness, followed by a special coating (electroplated coating). This results in lower friction than simple slick finishes or PTFE (Teflon) coatings. The coating is also highly resistant to peeling, ensuring the light pull sensation lasts for a long time.
