TACOM 1/16 M50A1 Ontos Self-Propelled Recoilless Rifle w/ Interior Plastic Model Kit. \
The M50 Ontos was a US Marine Corps self-propelled recoilless gun developed in the 1950s as an anti-tank vehicle, equipped with six M40 106mm recoilless guns. \
In the 1950s, the U.S. Army decided on a plan to develop various light armored vehicles using a universal chassis. After the T165 prototype, carrying six 106mm recoilless guns, was built, the improved T165E2 was formally designated the M50 in 1955. \
Deployed in combat during the Vietnam War from the mid-1960s, this vehicle was rarely used for its intended anti-tank role. However, it proved highly effective against infantry in battles such as Hue and Khe Sanh. \
The M50A1 was produced between 1963 and 1965 by retrofitting 176 M50s with V8 engines, replacing their original 6-cylinder engines.\
Main hatches are optional open/closed. Track system is belt-type.\
