\ Place a few drops of water on the inkstone surface. Lightly grip the inkstick and, using only the weight of your hand, slowly grind it into the stone as if writing the character “の” (no).
Once the ink becomes dark, transfer it to the sea (the part for holding water or liquid ink), add water again, and grind slowly.
Grind it as dark as possible, then thin it down to the desired final darkness.
