Affectionately known as “Kenmeri,” the fourth-generation Skyline C110 series was born in September 1972 as a full model change from its great predecessor, the C10 series. From its launch, the campaign featured two young characters, “Ken and Mary,” in romantic, human-centered commercials that became wildly popular across all age groups, eventually becoming a social phenomenon. While the Kenmeri itself was a huge hit, numerous related merchandise items also sold exceptionally well, with T-shirt sales reportedly exceeding 300,000 units. The Kenmeri, embodying all the Skyline's identity—the long-nose, short-deck basic style, round four-lamp taillights, surf line, and horizontal pointer gauges—became a hit with cumulative production exceeding 670,000 units. Among Kenmeri models, the 4-door variant began being called “Yonmeri” (short for 4-door Kenmeri) from the mid-1980s and is affectionately known by this nickname today.\
