Originally built as a cargo ship for Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, this vessel was assigned to the New York route. With the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War, it was requisitioned as a special seaplane tender and engaged in operations on the China front. During the Pacific War, it participated in the Dutch East Indies campaign and the Kiska Island evacuation operation. In May 1943, while on a transport mission, it was sunk by torpedoes from a U.S. submarine. This kit is a 1/700 scale plastic model kit of the “Kamikawa Maru” converted into a special waterplane carrier. Its parts configuration focuses on key elements, making it simple to assemble while accurately reproducing the vessel.
