TAMIYA Mechanical Steering System Electric Radio Control 56048 Product Description This is an assembly kit for an electric radio control tank, faithfully recreating the M4 Sherman 105mm Howitzer variant at 1/16 scale. \
Features a “controlled differential steering” system identical to the real vehicle.\
Drive sprocket, suspension arms, and idler wheel bases are metal.\
The HVSS (Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension System) uses metal coil springs and is fully movable.\
Tracks are made of hard plastic. Link pins and connectors are metal and pre-assembled. \

The RC M4 Sherman features a steering mechanism that operates on the same basic principle as the real vehicle's controlled differential steering system.\
Power from the 540 motor is transmitted to the left and right sprockets via the differential unit mounted in the front of the hull.\
Straight-line movement is achieved by rotating both tracks at the same speed, while turning is accomplished by creating a speed differential. \
Steering is achieved by the steering servo, which brakes one side of the brake discs on either side of the differential unit.\
Braking the right side turns right; braking the left side turns left.\
Furthermore, a pair of planetary gearboxes built into the differential unit function as differential gears, slowing one side while speeding up the other. \
