This masterpiece from Tamiya is now back with a new and enhanced appeal. In addition to the standard kit, this kit includes a sharp-looking metal 20mm machine gun barrel and pitot tube. The barrel is pre-painted and the pitot tube is plated to enhance the details. New markings are available for one aircraft aboard the aircraft carrier Junyo, which participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Additionally, the packaging is the same size as the 1/32 Zero Fighter Model 21, allowing for storage of the completed model. Each component has been refined to recreate the Zero Fighter Model 52, which faced off against the powerful American military's cutting-edge fighter. The Model 52, which followed the Model 22 in the latter half of the war, was developed to counter the fast, heavily armed American fighters. Its engine was the same 1,130 horsepower Sakae Model 21 engine as the Model 22, but it featured improvements such as a single thrust-type exhaust instead of the conventional combined exhaust, a shortened 11-meter wingspan, and semicircular wings, raising its top speed to 565 km/h. Its fixed armament consisted of two 7.7 mm machine guns in the nose and two long-barreled 20 mm machine guns in each wing. The Model 52 began deployment to units in the fall of 1943 and participated in most battles in the latter half of the war, including the Battle of the Solomon Islands, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and the air defense of the Japanese mainland. It fought bravely against overwhelmingly superior American forces in both quality and quantity until the end of the war. One of the appealing features of this kit is its seven points of articulation. While this model may appear over-scaled, we placed a premium on precision, recreating the outline and molding without compromising on the model's design.
