Born August 1936 in Yokohama. Real name: Shiina Gen. Became a master storyteller (shin'uchi) in March 1968. Possesses a wide repertoire of both classical and new material. Recently, his focus has shifted more towards classical pieces. Active on television programs. Currently also serves as Chairman of the Rakugo Art Association.
■Kaneharatei Baisei
■ Born January 1927 in Tokyo. Real name: Minobe Kiyoshi. Eldest son of Kokontei Shinsho. Assumed the name Kanbaraitei Baisei and made his shin'uchi debut in October 1949. Though overshadowed by his father's fame, he learned numerous stories from veteran masters. Just as his unique style began to emerge, he passed away prematurely, much to everyone's regret.
