1/24 scale plastic model. 98 parts. Model length: 174mm.
The Celica 1600GT, which debuted in October 1970, had its racing specification developed concurrently from the initial development stage.
It features a front spoiler and rear spoiler whose shapes were determined by computer and wind tunnel testing, along with headlamp covers and overfenders.
The 2T-G engine was upgraded with dry-sump conversion for increased power, and the suspension arms were completely redesigned. Development aimed to create a powerful touring car capable of competing against rivals.
The Celica 1600GT made its racing debut in November 1971 at the Japan All-Star Race held at Fuji. It made a stunning debut, sweeping 1st to 3rd place in the TS-b class with three entries.
