Description
Fujimi Models - Kan NEXT Series - No. 16 - Imperial Japanese Navy Akizuki-class Destroyer - 1944
Product Description
Escort the Carrier Strike Force~The Anti-Aircraft Destroyer Born of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
The definitive model of the Akizuki-class destroyer, featuring a completely new design, re-research, and newly employed molds.
・The Akizuki is molded in the dark gray Sasebo Naval Arsenal color, while the Hatsuki is molded in the lightest gray Maizuru Naval Arsenal color.
・Features a design where the hull and keel parts separate at the waterline, allowing for either full hull or seagoing model construction.
・The hull sides feature external plating seams and step joints based on cross-section drawings.
・The hull bottom reproduces external plating seams and water intake/discharge ports via engraving.
・The upper deck's slight drainage slope, tilted to port and starboard, is finely rendered.
・The differing signal tower deck shapes for Akizuki and Hatsuki are represented as separate parts. ・The steam exhaust pipe on the port side of the funnel runs higher on Akizuki and lower on Hatsuki. ・The railings behind the port torpedo tubes differ between Akizuki and Hatsuki, requiring separate parts. ・The molded bridge window parts are transparent. ・The stepped design of the navigation bridge windows, extending from the front to the sides, is accurately reproduced.
・Accurately reproduced the design difference in height between the navigation bridge and signal station deck.
・The main armament “10 cm guns” are newly molded with a completely new design, their distinctive shape finely sculpted in three dimensions.
・The starboard side features a linoleum deck extending from the stern. Based on historical photographs, its terminus is estimated to be the forward machine gun position (Frame 99) in front of the torpedo tubes.
・Includes pre-cut realistic decals with excellent conformability for uneven surfaces.
・Decals cover all areas requiring detailed painting, such as the naval ensign, lifebuoys, and cutter interiors.
・The display base has been redesigned for improved stability. Lower center of gravity and increased base area improve stability.
・Limited to the first production lot: Includes a version with a striped/wood deck pattern and mechanically textured surface on the display base top.
The KanNEXT series is a plastic kit designed to make building ship models easier while achieving realistic results.
◆ Color-separated molding eliminates the need for painting.
◆ Features a part-splitting method that minimizes visible seams. ◆ This is a snap-fit kit requiring no adhesive.
◆ Decals are included to reproduce detailed color separation.
◆ Removing the section below the waterline allows recreation of an ocean-going model.
