Product Description
Recreates the bridge of the Yamashiro, Japan's tallest battleship, at 1/350 scale.
This product is an unpainted kit requiring glue assembly and painting.
Battleship Yamashiro was built as the second ship of Japan's first dreadnought class, the Fuso. After undergoing several performance upgrades and modifications, she entered the Pacific War period. She was deployed to counter the US military's invasion of the Philippines in October 1944 and was sunk in combat. The Yamashiro's bridge featured distinctive elements compared to the Fusō, including a rounder conning tower and struts with increased spread. It also had a characteristic shape resembling the battleship Haruna, featuring rangefinder support structures.
This product utilizes the molds from the existing 1/350 scale Battleship Yamashiro kit.
The product models the ship after the removal of the Type 21 radar in the first half of 1944. The main bridge parts are molded in gray, simulating the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal color. Clear molded parts are provided for the bridge windows and searchlights. A display base and ship name decal are included.
The model reproduces the area from the upper deck to the top rangefinder, including the forward section extending to the second turret connected to the shelter deck. Assembly follows the actual structure, layering truss/tripod frameworks and decks.
The shelter deck features finely engraved wood grain detailing.
The Type 89 12.7cm twin high-angle guns on the shelter deck are constructed from 6 parts, showcasing the intricate detailing only possible at 1/350 scale.
The twin 25mm machine guns positioned fore and aft of the bridge are also unique to 1/350 scale, consisting of 3 parts with adjustable elevation.
The windows of five locations—the Compass Bridge, Lower Lookout, Combat Bridge, Rangefinder Station, and Main Gun Command Post—are reproduced with clear parts. The decks of the Compass Bridge and other levels feature carved strip patterns. Multiple ladders connecting the levels are provided, all as separate parts.
The 4.5-meter rangefinder can be fixed at any angle.
The wing sections of the combat bridge feature engraved light-weight hole structures.
Detailed binocular telescope parts enhance the precision feel for locations like the observation post and combat bridge.
The rangefinder guidance truss on the bridge's rear is meticulously crafted with engraved light-weight holes.
Molded parts consist of three colors: gray (Yokosuka Naval Arsenal color), transparent, and black for base parts.
